The Social Hour Team Presents:
Film Discussion on “Green Book”

Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion of this controversial film, which won Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Plan to see the film on your own before our discussion group meets. At our Zoom get-together, we will then talk about what we thought about the film, i.e., the themes, characters, what we liked (or not), what it made us think about, etc.

Green Book(2 hours, 10 mins., USA, 2018, available on Amazon Prime, $3.99 rental).

About the film: Inspired by the true story, Dr. Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation. Stars Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen.
