Description: The Sequoia Bayview trail is a wide level trail. You will see a few patches of redwoods. There is little elevation change (pretty flat) on the 3 mile stretch and it is shady.  There are several options for more energetic walkers: from the Sequoia-Bayview Trail the Sunset trail drops several hundred feet down to the valley floor, then runs parallel to the Sequoia Bayview Trail. From this trail the fairly steep Chaparral Trail, climbs back up the hill to connect with the Sequoia Bayview to return to our trailhead. We will have walk leaders to accommodate the various levels of walk pace and distance.

Where to meet: We will meet at Sequoia/Bayview Trailhead on Skyline Boulevard approximately 1/2 mile from Joaquin Miller Blvd.

What to bring: Dress warmly for variable weather conditions. Bring water, snacks, and hiking poles if you normally use them on hikes. Poles can be helpful for balance and to maneuver on any uneven segments on the trails. Bring your cell phone if you have one!

Directions:
From Rockridge BART, get on Hwy 24 going East. Take the Hwy 13 exit going south. Take the Joaquin Miller exit and turn Left on Joaquin Miller Road.  Turn left at the junction with Skyline Drive (Left arrow at traffic light). After about a half mile see the Joaquin Miller Trailhead on the left. Park along the road on the left side.

Transportation: Members can request an AV volunteer service for a ride and the volunteer can join you. You may also have a guest drive you and join you.

Covid: If you are vaccinated you do not have to wear a mask. If you are not vaccinated you must wear a mask.
