Elder Action Presents
Responding To Gun Violence - Youth Alive
The issue of gun violence, in our area and the country as a whole, can seem overwhelming and leave us feeling frightened and helpless. What can we do to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe and how can we contribute to breaking the cycle of violence in the cities where we live?
Elder Action invites you to learn about one local organization that is making a difference in responding to gun violence. Youth ALIVE (youthalive.org) works to help violently wounded people heal themselves and their community. Their mission is to prevent violence and train young leaders to bring peace and interrupt the cycle of retaliation in the streets. In a 45-minute Zoom presentation you will hear from community members who have experienced violence, and those working at the frontlines of reducing violence. Learn about how Youth ALIVE!’s programs for violence prevention, intervention, and healing have been saving lives for 30 years, and how we, as elders, can support their inter-generational work in our diverse communities. This is an informational virtual tour, not a fundraiser.
