Where:  Redwood Regional Park at Redwood Gate, 7867 Redwood Rd, Oakland, CA, Canyon Meadow Staging Area.

Description:  The Stream Trail is a partially paved trail that winds through meadows with picnic areas before entering a magnificent forest with towering redwoods, arching bay trees, and lush ferns. Here the trail is packed dirt, but still wide and with little elevation gain, following Redwood Creek. There are several steeper and more challenging trails branching off from the Stream Trail which will provide our moderate challenges.  Those not so inclined can stay on the Stream Trail and return by the same route.  Several leaders will be available to accommodate trail selection and distance/speed abilities. We will discuss the options and time constraints before we set off. Restrooms are available along the Stream trail.

Where to meet: We will meet in Redwood Regional Park at the “Redwood Gate”, 7867 Redwood Rd, Oakland, CA. This "GATE" is located off the north side of Redwood Road about 2.25 miles east of Skyline Blvd. Turn Left into the park here, and follow the entry road to its end at the Canyon Meadow Staging Area. Park here if you can.  Please allow extra time (10 minutes?) to walk from your parking space to the north end of the parking lot.

What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the longer option.

Directions: Take Hwy 13 south to the Redwood Road Exit. Turn left off the exit, and follow Redwood Road east, 2.25 miles past Skyline drive. Turn left into the “Redwood Gate”. Meet at the Canyon Meadow Staging Area at the end of the entry road.
 
Transportation: Members can request a ride from the AV office (please give advanced notice) or bring a guest who can drive you and join us on the walk.

Covid-19 Precautions: During the surge, masks are recommended for vaccinated walkers, unvaccinated walkers must wear a mask.
