AGING WITHOUT CHILDREN – PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
Sponsored by Ashby Village and JFCS/East Bay.
Estimates suggest that one in five people ages 65 years and older do not have children.
- Who inherits assets if an older adult has no children and no plan?
- What is the role of a fiduciary for older adults without children?
- Who should older adults without children choose as their health care agent?
These and other issues will be addressed at a free workshop sponsored by Ashby Village and JFCS/East Bay. Presenter Sara Diamond, noted estate planning lawyer, will cover topics such as estate planning, wills, advance health care directives and care communities with a focus on the unique needs of older adults without children.
Sara Diamond earned her law degree from U.C. HastingsCollege of the Law and her Ph.D. in Sociology from U.C. Berkeley. She formerly taught sociology and journalism and has also taught elder law at JFK UniversitySchool of Law and UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare.
