When: Wednesday Aug. 31. 10 AM for about 2 hours
Where: East Ridge Trail head , Skyline Gate Staging Area, Reinhardt Redwood Reg. Park, 8490 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA
Open to: Members & volunteers and their guests
Description: Same park as June, but a different trail! East Ridge trail is a wide fire road which undulates gently through open woodlands of pine and madrone to keep us somewhat shaded. Not flat, but easy to navigate. Frequent benches. 2.5 miles total.
For a moderate alternative option, one can dip down through majestic redwoods and graceful bay trees to the Stream Trail via Prince Trail after 1.25 miles on the East Ridge and back up on Eucalyptus and the Phillips Loop, adding 0.75 miles for a total of 3.25 miles and 300 ft elevation loss and gain.
Depending upon the temperature, we can always repeat the West Ridge trail (on the other side of the parking lot) that we did in June, which has shade and is relatively level, with options to take the French trail down lower and come up the Stream trail.
Depending upon available walk leaders, we will discuss the options before setting off.
Where to meet: Skyline Gate Staging Area parking lot, Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park located at 8490 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA
East Ridge trail is near the restrooms.
