A Shared Legacy of Aging Better, Together.

The Ashby Village Legacy Circle recognizes donors whose generosity
secures their personal legacy by carrying our mission into the future.

Joining the Ashby Village Legacy Circle is one of the most powerful ways
you can help create a lasting impact on older adults in the East Bay.

Designating Ashby Village in your will, trust, or other charitable giving plans
sustains the caring community, practical programs, and supportive services
villagers
rely on to live life on their own terms.

A Gift in Your Will or Trust

Including a charitable bequest in your will or revocable living trust is a gift that costs you nothing to make today (or during your lifetime), but will sustain Ashby Village programs and services into the future.

Beneficiary Designation

There’s no easier way to help older adults age with dignity, purpose, and self-determination than by naming Ashby Village as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance, annuity or donor advised fund.

Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can give up to $100,000 per year from your traditional IRA to nonprofit organizations like Ashby Village and exclude the gift amount from your income, even if you don’t itemize.

Non-Cash Assets

Donating certain assets like appreciated stock or real estate can provide significant tax benefits to donors and provide Ashby Village with funding that will sustain our mission and deepen our impact in the community.

Gifts That Pay Income

Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts can provide lifetime income and significant tax benefits while providing the financial support that is essential to ensure Ashby Village is here to empower older adults for years to come.

Village life offers community and support, and also the opportunity to give back in meaningful ways not just to elders, but to the generations to come as well. I learned that having my kids as beneficiaries of my IRA is not a great idea because of the taxes they would have to pay. It was easy, really easy, to change beneficiaries of my IRA – and that is where my legacy gift to Ashby Village resides now. Some really interesting gifts offer income and tax advantages, like my gift annuity, that is working exactly the way I want it to work. I’ve been part of gatherings where people have asked, Why didn’t anyone tell us about these options sooner?

In this chapter of my life, everything I do is legacy work – a chance to leave the world a bit better place.
