Having Trouble Sleeping As We Age: Why Does it Matter?

Maintaining Good Sleep Quality with Advancing Age

Join us to hear Dr. Katie Stone speak about some of the health risks of impaired sleep and what to do about it.  Learn about the seminal findings from her research, including the risk for future dementia from untreated sleep apnea among older women.

Dr. Stone is Senior Scientist at California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco.  She has over 25 years of experience studying the interplay of sleep and circadian rhythms with health outcomes in older adults, including cognitive impairment and dementia, falls and fractures, and cardiovascular disease. She currently leads a large multicenter comparative effectiveness trial (“COZI”) comparing three treatment approaches for chronic insomnia; and is Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the journal SLEEP.
