We'll take a short loop thru the main Zoo to see the new babies (Joon gibbon and Kendi giraffe) and then board the gondola for a 4 minute scenic ride up to the California Trail.  On the Trail's boardwalk, we'll pass through exhibits of California native species that have a story to tell us about their challenges in our state: eagle, condor, wolf, jaguar, brown/grizzly bear, mountain lion, black bear and bison.

After the CAT tour, you might want lunch at either the Landing Cafe before descending on the gondola or at Tuskers Cafe next to the main entrance.  Then you can explore other parts of the main Zoo on your own during the afternoon.

About our Docent! Come meet Jan Stevens - "Volunteering at the Zoo (docent class of 2014) has given me a sense of community and contribution that I missed after retiring from Williams-Sonoma.  I'm looking forward to sharing the gem that is our Oakland Zoo with other Ashby members."
