Elder Action
California's End of Life Option Act, which allows terminally ill Californians to receive medical assistance in dying, is no longer in immediate jeopardy. A federal judge on March 27 dismissed a legal challenge to the law brought by individuals and organizations claiming to speak for the disability community. In the meantime, unrelated to the court case, legislation has been introduced in Sacramento to expand the end-of-life option to cover patients who are diagnosed as incurable and facing extreme suffering but have not been certified as facing death in six months, as well as those with early to mid-stage dementia.
Join Ashby Village’s Elder Action interest group to hear Marcia Hofer, founder of A Better Exit, and Ashby Village member Peter Sussman talk about all this and more.
Are you interested in advocacy for political reform and social justice? Do you want to act on this together with other members of the Ashby Village community? Join us for ElderAction, an Ashby Village interest group.
Please join this rapidly growing group so that we can make our voices heard in these critical times.
Conveners: Julie Freestone and MA Morgan
