Ashby Village Ceramics Interest Group
Ashby Village volunteer Ruth Rogow and member Paula Marian Prane lead this new Ceramics Interest Group.
Come enjoy creative adventures playing with clay. No experience necessary. Using hand-building techniques (there is no potter’s wheel), you can make an endless variety of useful and decorative items. Or just enjoy the creative process. Ceramics lends itself well to newbies or experienced artists. We will orient you to the fabulous Ceramics Studio and lead you in beginner projects. If you are experienced with ceramics, just come for an intro to the Studio and then do your own thing.
For $5 per meeting we will supply your clay, or you can bring your own low fire clay. A wide variety of glazes await your colorful inspiration.
As a Berkeley Senior Center member (Berkeley residence not required), you are also welcome to use the Studio during Open Studio hours. A twice a year fee of $20 will cover glazes, slip, and equipment (this is requested but voluntary). Then we fire your pieces for you in a low fire kiln.
Additionally, like it or not, you will make new friends here.
Feel free to contact Ruth (urthlove@gmail.com), the Studio’s volunteer coordinator with questions. No RSVP necessary. Just show up (on time, please).
The Studio is open to seniors Monday and Thursday 9am-12pm and Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-4pm. If you cannot make it to this group but would like an orientation to the Studio, please contact Ruth.
We look forward to sharing our passion with you!
