Joaquin Miller Park - Monuments and Views
Description:This NEW hike will replace this month's usual Monday hike for Ashby Village Nature Walkers, to offer an easier nature experience! Led by Walker Leader and Member Carole Balfre, we will see monuments and views on a 2 mile paved hike, taking a gentle downhill path to Lookout Point. We can check out the Woodminster Theater before taking a gentle uphill path past the Friends of Saucal Creek nursery. At the end of the journey, folks are free to check out the Ranger Station for exhibits and info on Joaquin Miller Park.
Where to Meet: We will meet at the Ranger Station. Set your navigation to 3590 Sanburn Dr. Oakland. The parking lot is for both the Ranger Station and the Community Center. Restrooms at the Ranger Station, and we will meet in front. There is also parking both on the road and in another big parking lot just past the Ranger Station. Be sure to lock your car and don't leave anything of value showing!
What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, good walking shoes for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, and water. Hiking poles are good for stability in general. Bring your cell phone if you have one!
