The Martha Mitchell Effect
Available on Netflix and lasts 40 minutes.

We will discuss The Martha Mitchell Effect. The film was nominated for an Oscar as best short documentary.

Martha Mitchell was the wife of Richard Nixon’s Attorney General, John Michell, which gave her access to politicians in high governmental positions, the press and to Nixon himself. Initially she was praised by Nixon because of her popularity with the public, but then condemned as an alcoholic wacko when she started criticizing Nixon in ways that eventually contributed to Nixon’s downfall in 1974.
