Elder Action - Standing at a Crossroads
For almost a decade, Ashby Village Elder Action group has given Villagers a way to have a voice in the social justice issues facing us. From climate change to voting rights, gun violence, long term services and support, nursing home reform and ageism, end of life issues and more, the group has gathered monthly to get updates and learn how to take action.
“We are facing a dilemma,” says Rochelle Lefkowitz, who founded the group with the late Marcia Freedman. “We need to decide whether the group should continue, who will be involved in making that happen and what that would look like. With the world the way it is now, it seems even more urgent that we create a community where we can come together.”
At the Elder Action in-person General Meeting at the Ashby Village office, the group will celebrate its history and achievements and leaders who have contributed to successes over the years. We will then take some time to share how we are doing post-election and explore what issues we would want to focus on if we have sufficient leadership to continue.
Register to attend the meeting and map the future.
