ARROWHEAD MARSH

Description
A ramped observation deck looks out over the 50 acre salt marsh on this walk which is flat and accessible for all levels. There are restrooms available. It is paved. While it is 3.7 miles out and back, we can accommodate a much shorter walk. Easy to turn around at any point, so great for all skill levels. This is a great trail for those who like to walk and talk..
Where to meet
We will meet at the last parking lot on the left on the access road which is reached at 1 Swan Road, Oakland. You should park where you see the viewing structure!
What to bring
Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots, layered clothing for variable weather, water and snack. Hiking poles are optional - trail is paved and flat. Bring your cell phone if you have one.
How to get there: Directions: From Rockridge BART (lots free on weekends) get on Hwy 24, to Hwy 980 to Oakland. Merge with Hwy 880 south to Hegenberger exit. Turn Right onto Hegenberger Road, then Turn Right onto Doolittle Dr. Turn Right on Swan Way, and immediately turn Left to enter the park proceed and park in the last parking lot on the left, which is about . Restrooms are available there.
Transportation: Ashby Village members can request a ride through the AV office (510-204-9200), or you may bring a guest who can drive and join us on the walk.
