Join a dynamic group of individuals who enjoy sharing and discussing science-focused topics. Each month the group selects a new topic to focus on via their online email forum. Speakers and/or readings often support the lively discussions. This month our topic is:
Friends with Benefits? What’s the big fuss about the Gut Microbiome?
To give us a look into this gut level issue, four members of our Science and Ideas group will discuss aspects of recent research on Gut Microbes based on recent articles that they have selected.
•Gerry Abrams will give us an overview based on the article "What We Do and Don't know about Gut Health" from the BBC,
•Roger Newman will talk about how gut bacteria interact with harmful viruses. New Atlas
•Rhoda Haberman will talk about how the gut microbiome might affect our moods and personalities. Sciencemag.org
•Audre Newman will talk about gut microbes and athletic performance. Health News from NPR
We look forward to participation from others attending, since a wide variety of articles have been published in June and July and can be easily accessed by searching "Gut Microbiome".
Monthly areas of focus will be posted here once finalized.
