It is a visit with William Kentridge from South Africa who is an internationally celebrated artist. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art gave him a large exhibition ten years ago. His work includes superb draftsmanship that morphs into provocative film which he describes as drawings in the fourth dimension. They are collected and shown by museums. His theater designs for the opera houses of Europe and The Metropolitan Opera in New York engage with and enrich the music and drama in joyful and captivating ways. His subject matter includes fantasy, the exploration of perception, history and the fertility of play. This PBS video is an exploration of Kentridge's working processes and collaborations, and of the ways that these compelling productions grow out of very simple attitudes and practices.
