The gaiety of the 20's came "roaring" back to Ashby Village at our recent Volunteer Appreciation event.
Come as a flapper or come as you are.
Come as a gangster or silent screenstar.
It's going to be fun no matter the dress.
Just bring yourself, we'll take care of the rest.
Flappers dressed in a finery of headbands, sparkles, feathers, boas, pearls and long glamorous gloves. Gangsters in fedora hats, suspenders, arm bands and three piece suits.
Entry was through a door requiring a secret "password" and bouncers, a.k.a "the heavies", were diligent at restricting entry without it.
Surrounded by elegant decor of the era, volunteers were treated to fine food, festive music, Charleston dance lessons and a Prohibition police raid.
"So much fun" was the motto of the day!
