Ashby Village Covid policies & procedures

Effective as of June 1, 2023

Mutual care is at the heart of Ashby Village, and the safety of our members and volunteers is of utmost importance. We thank you for your continued cooperation helping to keep our community safe.

COVID Mask Collage

In alignment with the end of California's COVID-19 State of Emergency, Ashby Village COVID Policies and Procedures for in-person events and member services have been updated, including the discontinuation of collecting member and volunteer vaccine and booster status.

In-Person, In-Home Services and Rides: Masks are strongly recommended whenever gathering indoors and in vehicles.

If a member or volunteer prefers that both parties wear masks during an in-person, in-home service or ride, the member should please note this preference when requesting the service and the volunteer should confirm their agreement with this request directly with the member when coordinating the service after sign-up.

Similarly, if a member or volunteer prefers that the other is up-to-date on COVID vaccines and boosters, the member should please note this preference when requesting the service. The member and volunteer should confirm this agreement with each other when coordinating the service.

Meetings and Events: Masks are strongly recommended when participating in Ashby Village indoor activities.

Regardless of your vaccination status:

  • Wear a mask when around others for 10 days after exposure, even at home if other people are present

  • If you test positive, isolate

If you had COVID-19 within the last 30 days:

  • Testing after exposure is not explicitly recommended unless symptoms start

  • If symptoms start, isolate and get tested

If you test positive, whether you have symptoms or not:

Regardless of your vaccination status or infection history:

  • Isolate for at least 5 days

    • Sleep and stay in a separate room from those not infected

    • Use a separate bathroom, if you can

    • Wear a mask around others, even at home

  • You can end isolation early after Day 5 if:

    • You have no fever for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication, AND

    • Your other symptoms are gone or improving

  • If you still have a fever, continue to isolate until the fever is gone for at least 24 hours

  • If other symptoms are not improving, continue to isolate through Day 10

  • After you end isolation:

    • Wear a mask around others for 10 full days after the start of symptoms. If you have no symptoms, wear a mask for 10 full days after your positive test.

    • You may remove your mask sooner than Day 10 if you have two negative tests in a row, at least one day apart.
