Hamlet Meeting and Social Time via Zoom

This week's topic: A VISIT TO KYRGYZSTAN 2018-19
Zoom Slide show November 1, 2pm

From the steppes and mountains of Central Asia the nomadic Kyrgyz people settled in today's Kyrgyzstan and became a socialist republic in the USSR after the Russian revolution.  Today they are an independent country juggling competing pressures from China, Russia, Turkey and the West.

AV members Roger and Audre Newman traveled to Kyrgyzstan in 2018 to attend the World Nomad Games and returned for a botanical tour in the Spring of 2019.  They will present a slide show of their experiences at our meeting on November 1.  Slides will portray this beautiful mountainous country and the mix of nomadic and settled lifestyles that comprise a fascinating cultural mix.
