   NIMITZ TRAIL, INSPIRATION POINT-TILDEN PARK

Description:
This is a great  walk for gorgeous views of the Bay, as well as points East. At 2 miles, we reach Wildcat Peak 200 ft above our starting point, but there are a few ups and downs in-between. Turn-arounds are possible at any point, and you still get the views. We will have sufficient walk leaders to accommodate various distance/speed abilities.

Nimitz Trail is a relatively level walk on a paved fire road, the old road built in the 1950s to access a Nike missile installation, which runs along San Pablo Ridge.  It offers views of both San Francisco Bay and inland valleys, both quite beautiful.

Where to meet: We will meet at Inspiration Point in Tilden Regional Park on Wildcat Canyon Rd.

What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea.

Directions: From North Berkeley take Spruce St to top; cross the intersection with Grizzly Peak Blvd and go directly across to Wildcat Canyon Road. Follow this road about 3 winding miles to Inspiration Point. Parking is available.

Transportation: Need a ride? Members can request a ride from the Ashby Village office- 510-204-9200. Or have your guest bring you, and join you on the walk.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:
As it is outdoors -  All are welcome! If you are vaccinated, you don’t need to wear a mask. If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a mask.
