WHEN:
Monday, Dec. 6, 10 AM - Noonish

WHERE:
Lake Chabot Regional Park
17600 Lake Chabot Rd, Castro Valley

ACCESSIBILITY:
Good for wheelchairs and walkers

DESCRIPTION: The East Shore Trail is wheelchair accessible, hugs the lake, has gentle undulations, passes through alternating sunny and shady areas. Both leisure walkers, wheelchair users and those who want more of a challenge should meet at the Marina Cafe, on the deck overlooking the lake at 10 AM.

Together we will start on the East Shore Trail from there. Leisure walkers will walk "out and back" as far along the East Shore Trail as they desire. There are restrooms.  Easy to turn around at any point, so great for all skill levels. Those who desire a challenge will be able to make a loop hike by ascending to the Hills Trail via the Cameron Loop Trail. Walk leaders will explain and accompany, as needed.

While we need it - Rain cancels!

Where to meet: We will meet at the Marina Cafe deck past the parking lot - there is a $5 fee taken at the Ranger gate, if you turn into the park. You can also park outside the Park on Lake Chabot Road, free of charge. Allow for "walk  time" to get to the Marina Cafe.

What to bring:
Binoculars if you have them, layered clothing for variable weather, water and snack.  Hiking poles if you use them. Bring your cell phone, if you have one.

How to get there It is a 25 minute drive to the park from the Rockridge BART parking lot. Take Hwy 13 South and join 580 East. Drive on 580 East about 5 more miles to the Fairmont Drive Exit and turn east on Lake Chabot Road. The entrance is on the left and you can park along Lake Chabot Road at no charge. You may also turn in and drive to the kiosk for the $5 fee. 17600 Lake Chabot Rd. Castro Valley

Transportation: Members can request a ride through the AV volunteer service program( please give them advanced notice), or members and volunteers may bring your guest who can drive you and join us on the walk. It is a great opportunity to introduce Ashby Village to your friends/neighbors!
