The Events Team Presents: Friday Afternoon at the Movies Monthly Film Discussion Series
A Feature Film Discussion of... The Band’s Visit (1 hour, 27 mins., Israel, 2007, available on Amazon)
Please join us for our film discussion on June 17th of an unusual Israeli film, The Band’s Visit. You will need to see the film first on your own and then we will all get together via Zoom to discuss our reactions. Similar to a book club, our monthly discussions are dynamic, as we share our opinions and insights. The Band’s Visit tells the story of a small Israeli town where daily routines get disrupted by an unexpected visit from Egyptian musicians. A small Egyptian police band head to Israel to play a concert for an Arab arts center, only to find themselves lost in a small town in Israel's Negev Desert. As one reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes says, “For all of its dry wit and visual gags, The Band's Visit is ultimately a poignant slice of life about people from totally different backgrounds and cultures forging unexpected connections and healing old wounds.”
