1 Swan Way, Oakland

Who: Members and volunteers and their guests

Yes for wheelchairs and walkers

A ramped observation deck looks out over the 50 acre salt marsh. There are restrooms there too. The easy walk along this tidal Arrowhead Marsh  can be extended for longer, faster walkers - it is paved and level. While it is 3.7 miles out and back, we can accommodate a much shorter walk, as well. Easy to turn around at any point, so great for all skill levels.   Walkers can go at their own pace and distance. Walk leaders will accompany, as needed.

Where to meet
We will meet at the farthest parking lot on the left on the access road which is reached at 1 Swan Road, Oakland. Note that you will pass a couple of parking lots. Don't park until you see the large platform structure - all the way at the end of the road.

What to bring

Binoculars, if you have them, hat (sunscreen?), good walking shoes, layered clothing for variable weather, water and snack.  Walking poles are optional - trail is paved and flat. Bring your cell phone, if you have one.

How to get there Directions: From Rockridge BART get on Hwy 24, to Hwy 980 to Oakland.  Merge with Hwy 880 south to Hegenberger exit.  Turn Right onto Hegenberger Road, then Turn Right onto Doolittle Dr.  Turn Right on Swan Way, and immediately turn Left to enter the park. Park in the farthest parking lot on the left. Restrooms are available there.
Transportation: Members can request a ride through the AV volunteer service program, or you may bring your guest who can drive and join us on the walk.

Covid precautions: If you are vaccinated you do not need a mask. If you are not vaccinated you must wear a mask.
