DESCRIPTION and ACCESSIBILITY
:
This short-loop trail is a sure and easy way to feel refreshed in the great outdoors. It runs past the beach, children play areas, picnic sites, and goes around the lake. The route takes you along a narrow trail through the local plant life. . Part of the trail is paved and part is dirt. We should be seeing a waterfall!
B
enches and restrooms are available.
When walking along the water’s edge, watch for birds, Canadian geese, cormorants, and kingfishers. In the spring, wild onions, lilies, and other flowers bloom along the west edge of the lake. On the Oak Bay Trail, you’ll climb a bit above the lake through some shaded woodland, with a bench at the halfway point that looks out at the hills.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
6500 Broadway, Oakland is the navigational setting. The Lake is near the intersection of Hwys 24 and 13 in Oakland.
From Hwy 24, take the Broadway exit to the park’s north entrance. Meet at the east end of the North Broadway parking lot (farthest from the kiosk).
WHAT TO BRING:
Dress in layers, bring hat, water, and snack. Some walkers like to have walking poles for balance and stability. Bring your cell phone, if you have one.
