Volmer peak VIA Seaview trail - 3 miles out and back
Description: We have not done this for a while! This month we hope to see the wildflowers, as a result of those winter rains. Great views and great company! We may have several walk leaders to accompany walkers and accommodate various levels of distance and walking pace. There is always the option to turn around. It is 1 1/2 miles to the first bench and a bit further to the next bench. Before we start out, we will discuss the options and plan accordingly.
Where to Meet: We will meet in the parking lot just beyond the Steam Trains off Lomas Cantadas Road, east of Grizzly Peak. There is an accessible toilet near there.
What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, hat, snacks. Hiking poles are always recommended as they help with inclines and declines and stability in general. Bring your cell phone if you have one!
Directions: You can take Ashby Ave east, Left on Claremont Drive, Left on Grizzly Peak, Right on Lomas Cantadas, first Left toward Steam Trains and bare Right to get to the trailhead parking lot at the far end.
For additional clarity:
The navigational setting for the Steam Trains is 2481 Grizzly Peak Blvd., Orinda. There is a jog to the right on Lomas Cantadas and a left to and past the steam trains themselves. Bear right past the steam trains to get to the trailhead parking lot at the far end.
Transportation: Need a ride? Members can request a ride from the Ashby Village office- 510-204-9200. Or have your guest bring you, and join you on the walk.
